What a public API changes for a small loyalty program

With Fideliya’s API on the Enterprise plan, from €99.99 a month, your till can do the loyalty work as the customer pays: record the visit or the points, add a new customer from your own checkout, and take a gift card payment, while the pass in their Apple Wallet or Google Wallet updates on its own.

Your till records the visit as the customer pays, new customers join from your own checkout, and gift cards are paid at the till. What the Fideliya API does today.

Your till already sees every regular who comes back: they pay there. With Fideliya’s API, that moment can do the loyalty work too. The visit or the points are recorded as the customer pays, the pass in their Apple Wallet or Google Wallet updates by itself, and your team has one thing less to remember at a busy counter.

A loyalty pass lands in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, with nothing to install.

Three things that change at your counter

Your till records the visit as the customer pays

The API records a scan exactly as Fideliya’s scanner does: a visit, points added or taken away, or a reward redeemed. The same rules apply. Points past the goal, or a deduction past the balance, are refused rather than rounded, and a second visit a few minutes after the first waits for a confirmation, as the scanner asks "same visit or new visit?". The customer’s pass updates on their phone, as after any scan.

New customers from your own checkout

Your checkout can add a customer to one of your passes with their name and email, as the join form at your counter does. Your plan’s customer limit applies, and an email already on that pass is refused, so nobody ends up on it twice.

Gift cards paid at the till

A customer pays with a Fideliya gift card and your till takes the amount off its balance: never more than the balance, with your own ticket number kept beside the payment. The gift card in their wallet shows what is left, and they get their receipt. Your system can also issue a gift card, which emails it to the person who receives it.

What else the API reads and does

  • Reads. Your account, your passes, your customers with their balances, the scans, your locations, referrals, gift cards with every payment taken from them, and the figures your Analytics page shows for the same days, computed by the same code.
  • Messages to your customers. A message to the holders of a pass is previewed first, and nothing goes out until it is confirmed; a scheduled one can be cancelled. You are told by a notice and an email naming the key that sent it.

Who sets it up, and with what

Your developer, or the company that provides your till, connects it once. They create a key in your Fideliya dashboard and choose what it may do; taking gift card payments is a permission of its own. Everything they need is in the developer docs: every operation in the API reference, with what each error means.

Your till connects if it can call an API or receive webhooks. That is the one question to ask whoever provides it.

The other direction: webhooks

The API is your systems talking to Fideliya. Webhooks are Fideliya telling your systems, the moment it happens, that a customer joined, a pass was scanned, a reward was reached or a gift card was spent. The events and what to build on them are in loyalty program webhooks, and the full list is in the webhooks documentation.

What it costs, and what your customers notice

The API and webhooks come with the Enterprise plan: from €99.99 a month, or €79.99 a month billed yearly, with unlimited customers and locations, 10 team seats and 10 messages to your customers a month. The owner’s view of a connected till is on connecting Fideliya to your point of sale, and every plan is on the pricing page.

Your customers notice one thing: their pass is up to date the moment they pay. They keep it in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, with no app to download and no account or password to create.

Frequently asked questions

Can my till add loyalty points when a customer pays?

Yes, if your till can call an API. On Fideliya’s Enterprise plan it records the visit or the points as the customer pays, by the scanner’s own rules, and the pass in their Apple Wallet or Google Wallet updates on its own.

Does Fideliya work with my point of sale?

It works with a till that can call an API or receive webhooks. Your developer, or the company that provides your till, connects it once with a key from your Fideliya dashboard, following the developer docs.

Which plan includes the Fideliya API?

Fideliya’s Enterprise plan, from €99.99 a month or €79.99 a month billed yearly. Webhooks come with it, along with unlimited customers and locations and 10 team seats.

Can customers pay with a gift card at my till?

Yes. Your till takes the amount off the Fideliya gift card’s balance, never more than it holds, and keeps your ticket number with the payment. The gift card in the customer’s wallet shows what is left.

Do I need a developer to use the API?

You need someone who can connect your till: your own developer or the company that provides it. They create a key in your Fideliya dashboard, and the developer docs describe every operation and every error.
